But no one can deny the fact that whether his movies do well or not, whether he is in town or away in the US for months, his star status cannot be ignored. Beneath all that rude boy image who keeps a safe distance from people or chooses whom he hangs out with, is a man who values those who’ve contributed to his life.
Even if they have hurt him or pushed the wrong buttons, he says, “I believe essentially people are good and I hold no grudges. And I’d like to think I’m likeable and no one holds grudges against me. At the end of the day it’s easy to dislike and it takes a lot more courage and sensitivity to like and reach out.”
For the longest time although Simbu and Dhanush were thought of as rivals their recent warmth towards each other only goes to show that stars do have a side to them which craves warmth, respects friendship and they also yearn for genuine care and concern.
“Yes, we are human too. It’s sad how things are blown out of proportion and we are all young people sometimes guided wrongly by some vested interests. Dhanush is an amazing guy. Aishwarya is very nice to me and whatever has been said or written doesn’t count any more.”
Extending his warmth as far as Nayanthara, Simbu recently was spotted spending time with her.
“She is a good soul. We are just friends and it will be just foolish to link us romantically. I think as professionals and as two people who shared an intense friendship, we still share fondness for each other as people. We talk about regular things like films, common friends and our lives. We’ve both moved on and have found peace in our own individual lives and there is no bitterness. She is doing well for herself and I wish her well.”
It is perhaps his ability to put his image or ‘what people would say’ attitude aside and reach out that makes him a true star.
